The Pistons traded Nazr Mohammed to the Bobcats in exchange for Walter Herrmann and Primoz Brezec.  To make space for the two new players, the Pistons waived Ronald Dupree.  Although Herrmann was not a part of the Bobcats rotation this year, he should provide an efficient scoring punch off the bench.  Over the final 18 games last year, Herrmann consistently shot at or above 50% in nearly every game while taking fewer than 10 shots only twice.  Add that to his 46% 3-point accuracy and you can see why the Pistons were interested in acquiring him.

Nazr wasn’t the answer to the Pistons need for a big with size, so moving his awful contract for two expiring contracts was another great move by Joe Dumars.  While Brezec has battled injury issues and likely won’t play a large role on the team, the move may allow Amir Johnson to step up and prove his worth.  The subject of much hype after his dominating performances in the D-League last year, Johnson has been brought along slowly by the team, much the same way as Jason Maxiell.  If Johnson isn’t ready yet, look for the Pistons to try to move Flip Murray when Rodney Stuckey gets healthy.  Signing Chris Webber remains an option, but his age and poor performance against Chicago and Cleveland during last year’s playoffs while likely dissuade the Pistons from adding him to the team.
